USB Type-C（简称USB-C），它具有全新的接口尺寸和略显酷炫的名称，非常容易使第一次听到这个名词的小伙伴以为这是一种全新的USB标准，但实际上并不是。Type-C 只是USB 3.1标准的一部分，而不是一个新的标准。 　　Type-C的诞生并不久远，在2013年底 Type-C连接器的渲染图就出来了，2014年USB 3.1标准中就已经搞定。它是一种新型USB线缆及连接器的规范，是一整套全新的USB物理规格。 Type-C虽然出现不久，但可以预见，随着USB Type-C技术的成熟，未来的各种笔记本、平板电脑甚至是智能手机都会开始普及USB Type-C接口。

What your USB-C port isn't telling youUSB Type C is supposed to be a universal standard, but it’s just universally confusing. A USB Type C port can run at either 5Gbps or 10Gbps and still be labeled USB 3.1 by the laptop maker. USB Type C even technically supports USB 2.0 speeds at a pathetic 480Mbps. So when you see a USB Type C port, the only assumption you can make is that its transfer speeds can vary from as low as 480Mbps to as high as 10Gbps.To muddy things even further, Intel’s Thunderbolt 3 technology uses the same USB Type C port for transfers over PCIe. It'll also support USB 3.1's 10Gbps.There’s a longer discussion to be had about Thunderbolt 3 and video-out support over USB Type C, but that’s for another day.
